“BOMBSHELL”
(A Dev Haskell novel)
by Mike Faricy
REVIEWED BY: Books4Tomorrow
OVERVIEW
Dysfuntional, bumbling, crazy babe-magnet Dev
Haskell, P.I. becomes the envy of every guy with a heartbeat when he's hired to
watch over a team of gorgeous English roller derby stars. Though he'd rather be
standing guard in the shower room, he suddenly finds himself under arrest and
found guilty before he's charged. He's got an attorney who drinks too much, a
beautiful friend with a bad attitude, a feisty team of females ready to kill
him - and no answers. Bombshell is another fast-paced, engrossing suspense
thriller from Minnesoya's master of the bizarre, Mike Faricy
REVIEW
I
can honestly say that Dev is one of my absolute favorite fictional private
investigators. He’s just your average, typical male with all the bells and
whistles eternal bachelorhood brings. What I enjoy most about reading Dev
Haskell novels, is that the author doesn’t deviate from Dev’s character, and
his continuous pattern of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, so you
know what to expect when you meet up with him in the next book. His behavior -
which often invokes a good measure of eye-rolling in the reader – is
predictable, yet strangely endearing. The only thing that differs in each novel
is the kinds of trouble he get into. And you can bet your last dollar, there’s
always a woman involved. This, of course, makes for some laugh-out-loud, light
reading. In par with the previous Dev Haskell novels, the author continues
Dev’s misadventures using a well-known cast of supporting characters familiar
to readers of these novels. What makes these characters really memorable is
their realistically relatable flaws.
The
only disappointed here for me was that I could tell very early on who the
culprit was going to be, and the motive behind it all. I was hoping to be
wrong, but as it turns out, my guess was right all along - thus the four-star
rating.
Authentic
dialogue and excellent one-liners kept me in stitches. This is a first-rate
read and again the author managed to create another enjoyable book that will leave
readers wanting more!

Angie, Thanks for the review. I take to heart your comment about becoming aware of the 'culprit' too soon and will work to adjust in future. God help him but Dev does enjoy the ladies and they in turn view him as a potential project. That in turn moves to a work in progress digressing to the point where they seem to throw up their hands in disgust. I think he'd be a great weekend date or that guy you meet in a different city while there on business for a week. I'm just not sure you'd tell your girlfriends, at least not until some years had passed. He's involved with a different sort of woman around the first of the year in Tutti Frutti. All the best, and many thanks, Mike Faricy
